What Tech Week Looks Like + SURPRISES and Disappointments

Hey Guys!

I’m really sorry.  I haven’t posted in quite a while, but I was very busy.  For now, let’s catch up on what been happening in this crazy life of mine, starting with tech week.

August 7th

This was our first day of tech week.  People always complain about it, because the cast doesn’t do much.  Just the crew.  But personally, I enjoy it the most.  Getting to the theatre, finding places for our costumes and filming.  Everything was great.  My favorite part was a little adventure after dinner…

Almost everyone was still eating, but I wanted to finish early and do my makeup in the dressing room.  After that I decided to join everyone again.  Out on stage I met up with two of my castmates.  Let’s call them Caleb and Blake.  I really wanted to go exploring the building, but not alone so the three of us went together.

First, we found some random rooms, then one full of lights.  After a little while we went outside.  There were these strange little totem pole type things.  They kind of creeped me out.  After a little while we decided to go back inside.  Caleb went up to the library (the theatre is at a school).  He tried the door and to our surprise, it opened!

Although nothing out of the ordinary happened, we had a great time admiring the houseplants, writing love notes from fake people to other fake people on the whiteboard, and looking at books.

We match!

August 8th

More filming and sitting around.  But I got to wear my fancy, fluffy 50s dress almost all day.  During dinner a small group was trying to flip their water bottles.  I decided to join them.  I tried to flip it and make it land on my hand, and it worked.  I gasped really loud and then did it four more times, gasping louder each time.  Later, Lolly told me that the entire room was watching me flip it.  *facepalm* Keep in mind I was still wearing that dress.

Look at that awesome fog, just look at it!

August 9th

I made a skirt for one of the songs, plus a cape for another scene.  Then we tried to get through the whole show.  Hehe, it didn’t work. We ended up mostly running songs, aaand, that was all.  I was also rather thrilled over the fog/smoke we had.

Her poor car.

August 10th

Lolly got in a car accident.  Her car looks absolutely awful and she will never ever be able to drive it again.  She also got terrible scrapes on her face and neck.  Plus bruises everywhere.  The worst thing was her foot, which she could barely walk on.
Our director was really stressed.  Opening night was one day away and one of his leads (Lolly) couldn’t dance!  Everyone was stressed, especially since she had just broken her toe on the other foot.
Everyone was so loving and concerned about her and she told the story at least 10 times.  Not to mention the 3 times I told it.
We practiced with our mics and made it through the whole show!

Those lights.  Enough said.

 August 11th

Another opening of another show.  Opening night was filled with nerves, water bottle flipping, Snapchat filters and so much fun!  Winning arguments with “aren’t you going to be a gentleman?”  Going to IHOP afterward and having a great time.

August 12th

The Cool Club

Everything felt a little off.  I didn’t make any mistakes, but didn’t have a ton of energy.  One of the songs is ‘Cool’ from Westside Story.  A few of us girls get to wear leather jackets and bright red lipstick.  We declared ourselves the Cool Club.  Giving Seriah a thimble before she left and an extremely loud game of spoons at Dions.  Saying sentences in the wrong order due to exhaustion.  It was perfect.

Do you see how awesome that dress is?

Final bows

I mentally prepared myself for many tears before even leaving.  We rode with our almost siblings because of Lolly’s car crash.  The two of them are the sweetest ever and our characters have been related to Jake’s character for three shows in a row.  He’s leaving for college and won’t be back for forever.
Right before the show the cast prayed together behind the curtain.  I seriously started to cry.  Our director is leaving Encore! after this, as is most of the cast.

I cried again when we gave our director his gifts.  We went to Apple Bees.  I cried and laughed and told jokes and was ashamed of the jokes other people made.

When we left I gave everyone around five too many hugs.

Tech week is wonderful, stressful, fun, crazy and exciting.  I’m going to miss this show and cast for a long time.  Leaving a show is one thing you can’t understand until you’ve experienced it.

Now, the moment you’ve been waiting for: the surprises!

As you know (or hopefully do), this is Lolly and I’s blog, or that’s what it’s supposed to be.  But, Lolly never has the time to post anymore.  So, I’m going to be switching to a new blog, using my real name.  I am so excited!  I want to do a blog tour, but I need help.  If you want to see my blog before other people and would like to help out, please, please comment below.  I need all the advice and help I can get.  But, don’t worry about forgetting, I will do another post with all of the details very soon.

Now, for the not so exciting news.

I have to take a hiatus.  Not terribly long, but for a month.  I was going to schedule posts, but that was before my vision for my new blog.  I probably won’t be commenting on other posts, but I will reply to comments on here.

Au revoir,
Pip
