The Creator's Click

Image
From time to time I get stuck creatively.   Nothing seems worth doing.  Whenever I pick up my pencil to write, no words come.  When I grab a paintbrush, the paper stays empty.  I'll look through my fabric, but nothing is sewn.  Everything feels bland.   There is no creative click  in the back of my brain. It's hard to get out of a non-creative rut.  Sometimes it happens when I've been doing too much of the same thing.  Other times, when I've been to busy and now have no inspiration.  Sometimes I look on Pinterest for inspiration.  Usually it doesn't do much.  I end up looking at my DIY board and sighing.  Nothing seems worth doing and you have to sit back and wait for inspiration. 15 ways to find inspiration 1. Write a to do list and actually start checking things off. 2. Make yourself a treat. 3. Change your wallpaper. 4. Hide your phone.  It’s insane how much you can get do...

My Very Own Craft Space

Image
Have you ever looked at a magazine and wished your bedroom could look that amazing?  Or seen a photo of a gorgeously organized closet?  I do it all the time, except with craft spaces, instead.  They are just so pretty!  I've wanted a crafting area of my own for some time now, but our little apartment didn't seem to have room.  I was trying and trying to figure out a way to get a craft desk or something, to no avail.  The other day I was kind of frustrated that I didn't have the space.  I started writing in my journal about exactly the way I would want it (if I had one), when I realized there was the perfect spot right in our house.  It's sort of like a built in desk right in between a closet and a bathroom.  Plus there's a little window for light. It would be the perfect spot just so long as my Mom was okay with me using it.  And she was!  All I had to do was find a place for all of the clutter and I was mine.   I've be...

New Years Goals & Other Such Snippets

Image
Hello! Are you excited!  It's finally 2017!  I say that as if the year drug on and on, but really, it fairly flew! Do you have any goals, dreams or resolutions?  I have a few I'd like to share, so let's get started.  1. Get the splits I've made this goal the last four years and never succeeded.  But it's a new year, right?  And I can still do it no matter how many times I fail. 2. Spend less time on screens and more time outside This is a big one for me because I think it's really important.  Being in the sunshine makes me feel so much happier.  And even if there is no sun just the fresh air is great.  I know it's winter and it's cold, but  I can still spend a little time outside, right?  Plus look at the photo below.   Go out and go for a walk right now.  Your brain will feel alive! 3. Practice photography It would be super cool to take awesome photos.  I know I can't get good all at once...

Christmas Creations

Image
Hello, and my apologies.  Yet again I have failed to post regularly!  Oh well, Chritsmas is the time of new beginnings, right? As we have been getting ready for the holidays I set aside some time to craft.   My first creation is an ornament I saw at Hobby Lobby.  I loved it so much, but didn't feel like spending the money on it. So, I decided to take a picture and try making it.  I'm very happy I did because it turned out quite well.  Isn't it cute?  I just love the bow tie.   Willa and I have also made a small assortment of paper snowflakes.  Because we haven't had any real snow here they help to console us.  Below is my step by  step tutorial for them: Start with a pencil, price of paper and some scissors.   Fold it so it so that it is a triangle with an extra bit on one end. Cut along the edge so that you have just one large triangle. Fold it in half to make another tri...
